Lilla Cabot Perry — American, 1848–1933 — American Impressionism
Lilla Cabot Perry was a Boston-born painter who became a key conduit between French Impressionism and the American art establishment. Born into a prominent New England family, she began serious study in her late thirties, training in Paris at the Académie Colarossi and the Académie Julian. From 1889 she spent ten summers in Giverny, where she formed a close friendship with Claude Monet and absorbed his approach to color and light.
