Alexandre De Riquer — Spanish (Catalan), 1856–1920 — Catalan Modernisme
Alexandre de Riquer was a central figure in Catalan Modernisme, working as a painter, illustrator, poet, and designer in late nineteenth and early twentieth century Barcelona. Trained in Catalonia and London, he absorbed the influence of the English Pre-Raphaelites and the broader Arts and Crafts movement, which he then helped translate into a distinctly Catalan visual language.
