Louis Anquetin — French, 1861–1932 — Cloisonnism / Post-Impressionism
Louis Anquetin trained in Paris under Léon Bonnat and later at the studio of Fernand Cormon, where he formed close associations with Émile Bernard, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Vincent van Gogh. In the late 1880s he and Bernard developed Cloisonnism, a style characterized by flat areas of color bounded by dark contours, drawing on Japanese prints and stained glass.
