Solomon Joseph Solomon was a London-born painter trained at the Royal Academy Schools and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studied under Alexandre Cabanel. He worked in the academic tradition, producing large-scale historical, mythological, and biblical compositions alongside society portraits. Paintings such as Ajax and Cassandra and Samson reflect his interest in dramatic narrative and carefully constructed figure groups drawn from classical sources.
