Eloise Harriet Stannard worked in Norwich, where she became one of the most accomplished still life painters of the Victorian era. Trained by her father, Alfred Stannard, a member of the Norwich School of painters, she specialized in carefully observed compositions of fruit, often grapes, plums, peaches, and apples, frequently arranged with porcelain or basketry on draped tables.
