Henry Mayer, often signed Hy Mayer, was a German-born American illustrator and cartoonist who worked extensively for the popular press at the turn of the twentieth century. He contributed cartoons, caricatures, and humorous drawings to publications including Puck, Judge, Life, and the New York Times, and served as art editor of Puck in its later years. His draftsmanship favored fluid linework and gentle satire over the sharper political invective common among his contemporaries.
