Alexei Kondratyevich Savrasov — Russian, 1830–1897 — Russian Realism, Peredvizhniki
Savrasov was a founding member of the Peredvizhniki, the society of Russian realist painters who broke with academic convention to depict the landscape and life of their own country. He trained at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he later taught for nearly two decades; Isaac Levitan and Konstantin Korovin were among his students.
