Alexander Mark Rossi was a Victorian-era painter known for sentimental genre scenes, particularly those depicting children at play, domestic interiors, and seaside outings. Born in Corfu and later settling in England, he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from the 1870s through the early twentieth century. His work belongs to a popular strain of late Victorian narrative painting that prized warmth, anecdote, and finely observed detail over grand historical subject matter.
