Nils Kreuger — Swedish, 1858–1930 — Swedish National Romanticism
Nils Kreuger was a Swedish landscape and animal painter associated with the Varberg School, a small but influential circle that helped shape Swedish National Romantic painting in the 1890s. Trained at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and later in Paris, he absorbed plein-air practice before settling for a formative period on the west coast of Sweden, where he worked alongside Karl Nordström and Richard Bergh.
