Gerhard Nordstrom — Swedish, 1925–2019 — Swedish Social Realism
Gerhard Nordström was a Swedish painter and graphic artist whose work confronted the political violence of the postwar era. He came to wider attention in the late 1960s with his series responding to the Vietnam War, most notably the cycle Songmy, which translated documentary photographs of the My Lai massacre into stark, photo-derived paintings.
