Frank Kirchbach was a German painter and illustrator who worked within the late nineteenth-century academic tradition, producing history paintings, mythological scenes, and literary illustrations. Born in London to a German family and trained in Munich, he absorbed the technical rigor of the Munich school under figures associated with the academy there.
