Francis Cadell — Scottish, 1883–1937 — Scottish Colourism

Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell was one of the four painters known as the Scottish Colourists, alongside Peploe, Fergusson, and Hunter. Trained in Edinburgh and Paris, he absorbed the influence of the Fauves and post-Impressionists, returning to Scotland with a palette of saturated colour and a confident, abbreviated touch.
