Louis Icart — French, 1888–1950 — Art Deco

Louis Icart was a French printmaker and painter whose etchings defined the visual style of the Art Deco era. Trained in Paris, he began his career producing fashion illustrations before turning to the drypoint and etching techniques for which he became known. From the 1920s through the 1930s, Icart produced hundreds of editioned prints depicting elegant women in Parisian interiors, often accompanied by greyhounds, peacocks, or windswept drapery.
