Francesco Beda — Italian, 1840–1900 — Italian Academic Genre Painting
Francesco Beda was a Trieste-born painter who specialized in finely rendered interior genre scenes, typically depicting cardinals, gentlemen, and elegant figures in richly appointed eighteenth-century settings. He trained at the Accademia di Brera in Milan and worked within the broader European taste for historicizing genre painting that flourished in the second half of the nineteenth century, alongside contemporaries such as Mariano Fortuny and Giovanni Boldini.
