Luca Giordano, Aka Luca Fa Presto — Italian, 1634–1705 — Neapolitan Baroque
Luca Giordano was the most prolific and inventive Neapolitan painter of the late Baroque, nicknamed Luca fa presto—Luke works quickly—for the speed and fluency of his execution. Trained in Naples in the orbit of Jusepe de Ribera, he absorbed Ribera's tenebrism before turning toward the lighter palette and theatrical compositions of Pietro da Cortona and the Venetians, particularly Veronese.
