Henri Martin — French, 1860–1943 — French Post-Impressionism, Pointillism
Henri Martin trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and later in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurens, beginning his career in an academic Symbolist mode before adopting a personal form of divisionism in the 1890s. Influenced by Seurat and Pissarro, he applied small, deliberate touches of pure color to landscapes, allegorical scenes, and views of his property at Marquayrol in the Lot region of southwest France.
