E Irving Couse — American, 1866–1936 — Taos Society of Artists
Eanger Irving Couse was a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists, established in 1915, and served as its first president. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, he trained at the National Academy of Design in New York and the Académie Julian in Paris before settling permanently in Taos, New Mexico in 1902.
