Henry Mosler was a German-born American painter known for genre scenes drawn from European peasant life, particularly that of Brittany. After early work as a Civil War sketch artist for Harper's Weekly, he trained in Düsseldorf, Munich, and Paris, where he absorbed the academic methods that would shape his career.
