Winter In Washington Square
Paul Cornoyer — American, 1864–1923 — American Impressionism
Paul Cornoyer was an American Impressionist painter best known for atmospheric urban scenes of New York City, particularly views of Madison Square, Washington Square, and rain-washed streets at twilight. Born in St. Louis, he trained at the Saint Louis School of Fine Arts and later in Paris at the Académie Julian, where he absorbed the tonal sensibilities of the Barbizon painters and the looser handling of the French Impressionists.
