Samuel Peter Rolt Triscott was an English-born painter who settled in the United States and became closely associated with Monhegan Island, Maine, where he lived for the latter part of his life. He worked primarily in watercolor, a medium in which he developed a quiet, atmospheric command — depicting the island's weathered cottages, granite headlands, and coastal weather with restrained tonal range and careful observation.
