Francois Boucher — French, 1703–1770 — French Rococo
Boucher was the defining painter of the French Rococo at its zenith, a favorite of Madame de Pompadour and, from 1765, Premier Peintre du Roi to Louis XV. Trained in Paris and shaped by a stay in Italy from 1727 to 1731, he produced mythological scenes, pastorals, allegories, portraits, and decorative panels, alongside designs for the Beauvais and Gobelins tapestry manufactories and for the Sèvres porcelain works.
