Michael Peter Ancher — Danish, 1849–1927 — Skagen Painters
Michael Ancher was a leading figure of the Skagen Painters, the colony of Scandinavian artists who gathered in the fishing village at Denmark's northern tip from the late 1870s onward. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, he settled permanently in Skagen after marrying the painter Anna Brøndum in 1880.
