Nikolai Nikanorovich Dubovskoy — Russian, 1859–1918 — Russian Realism / Peredvizhniki
Dubovskoy was a Russian landscape painter associated with the Peredvizhniki, the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions that dominated Russian realist painting in the late nineteenth century. Trained at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, he left before completing his studies and aligned himself with the more progressive Wanderers, eventually becoming a central figure in the group and chairing its board.
