Anders Zorn — Swedish, 1860–1920 — Swedish Realism / Society Portraiture
Anders Zorn was among the most internationally celebrated painters of his generation, equally accomplished in oil, watercolor, and etching. Trained at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, he built an early reputation as a virtuoso watercolorist before settling into the loose, vigorous oil technique for which he became known. Zorn worked between Sweden, Paris, London, and the United States, where he painted portraits of three sitting presidents and figures of industrial wealth.
