Description
The Stranded Ship By Asher B Durand
Asher Brown Durand — American, 1796–1886 — Hudson River School
Durand was a central figure of the Hudson River School and, after Thomas Cole's death in 1848, its informal dean. Trained initially as an engraver in New Jersey and New York, he turned seriously to landscape painting in the 1830s and brought to it a draftsman's precision, particularly in the rendering of foliage, bark, and rock.
