The Rise Allen Tucker

Allen Tucker — American, 1866–1939 — American Post-Impressionism

Allen Tucker was an American painter who came to art relatively late, having first trained and practiced as an architect in New York. He studied painting under John Twachtman at the Art Students League and developed a personal idiom that moved from Impressionist beginnings toward a freer, more expressive handling indebted to Van Gogh, with whom critics often compared him.
