Laura Theresa Alma-Tadema was a British painter known for domestic interior scenes drawn from seventeenth-century Dutch life, a counterpart to the classical subjects favored by her husband, Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Born Laura Theresa Epps in London, she trained under Lawrence before their marriage in 1871 and developed an independent reputation through exhibitions at the Royal Academy and the Grosvenor Gallery.
