Monte Crews worked as a magazine and pulp illustrator during the first half of the twentieth century, contributing cover art and interior illustrations to publications including Adventure, Argosy, and Country Gentleman. His subjects ranged from rural American scenes to action narratives drawn from popular fiction of the period.
