Karl Anderson was an American Impressionist painter known for sunlit figural compositions, garden scenes, and intimate domestic subjects. Born in Ohio and trained at the Art Institute of Chicago before continuing his studies in Paris, he absorbed the broken color and high-keyed palette of late French Impressionism and applied it to distinctly American subjects.
