The Creuse In Autumn
Armand Guillaumin — French, 1841–1927 — French Impressionism
Armand Guillaumin was a French painter associated with the Impressionist circle from its earliest exhibitions, participating in six of the eight Impressionist shows beginning in 1874. He worked alongside Pissarro and Cézanne, with whom he shared a studio and a formative friendship in the late 1860s and 1870s. Guillaumin is recognized for his intense, often saturated palette—deep oranges, violets, and greens applied with vigorous, broken brushwork—which anticipated certain tendencies of Fauvism.
