Mikhail Larionov — Russian, 1881–1964 — Russian Avant-Garde
Mikhail Larionov was a central figure in the Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century, known both for his paintings and for his role as an organizer of pivotal exhibitions. With Natalia Goncharova, his lifelong partner, he helped stage the Jack of Diamonds and Donkey's Tail shows in Moscow, which introduced a new generation of experimental Russian artists.
