Dufy Raoul — French, 1877–1953 — French Fauvism
Raoul Dufy was a French painter associated with the Fauvist movement, though his mature style developed into a distinctive mode of his own: rapid calligraphic line laid over loose, transparent washes of color, the two registers often deliberately misaligned. Born in Le Havre, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and came under the influence of Matisse around 1905.
