George Armfield was an English painter who specialized almost exclusively in depictions of dogs, particularly terriers, spaniels, and hounds engaged in hunting, ratting, or alert in moments of stillness. Working in London through much of the Victorian era, he exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution, and the Society of British Artists from the 1840s onward.
