Walter Launt Palmer — American, 1854–1932 — American Impressionism
Walter Launt Palmer was an American painter best known for his snow scenes, particularly winter landscapes of the upstate New York countryside around his native Albany. The son of sculptor Erastus Dow Palmer, he trained briefly with Frederic Edwin Church and later studied in Paris under Carolus-Duran in the late 1870s, absorbing French plein-air sensibilities that he adapted to American subjects.
