Alfred Thompson Bricher was an American marine and landscape painter associated with the second generation of the Hudson River School and the Luminist tendency that grew out of it. Largely self-taught, he began his career in Boston in the late 1850s before settling in the New York area, where he became known for coastal scenes of New England and the mid-Atlantic, particularly the shores of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Grand Manan Island.
