Joseph Decker — American, 1853–1924 — American Still Life / Trompe-l'œil
Joseph Decker was a German-born American painter best known for his still lifes of fruit, particularly close-up studies of berries, apples, and nuts arranged on branches or scattered across simple grounds. He emigrated to Brooklyn as a young man and trained briefly at the National Academy of Design before studying in Munich in the late 1870s.
