Willem van Aelst was a Dutch still-life painter known for refined floral and game pieces produced during the second half of the seventeenth century. Born in Delft and trained by his uncle Evert van Aelst, he spent formative years abroad, working in France and serving as court painter to Ferdinando II de' Medici in Florence between roughly 1649 and 1656.
