Alexei Harlamoff — Russian, 1840–1925 — Russian Realism
Alexei Alexeevich Harlamoff was a Russian portrait painter best known for his sensitive depictions of young women and children. Trained at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, he won a scholarship that took him to Paris, where he studied under Léon Bonnat and settled for much of his career. His work bridges Russian academic realism and the polished portrait tradition of late nineteenth-century France.
