She Went On Her Journey
Arthur Rackham — British, 1867–1939 — Golden Age of Illustration
Arthur Rackham was among the defining illustrators of the Edwardian period, and his work shaped the visual language of European fairy tale and folklore for the twentieth century. Trained at the Lambeth School of Art while working as an insurance clerk, he found his mature style in the 1900s through commissions for gift-book editions of Rip Van Winkle, Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and the Brothers Grimm.
