Granville Redmond — American, 1871–1935 — California Impressionism, Tonalism

Granville Redmond is best known for two distinct bodies of work: luminous tonalist landscapes of California's coastal hills and oak-studded valleys at twilight, and the vivid fields of golden poppies and lupine that became his signature subject. Deafened by scarlet fever in childhood, he trained at the California School of Design in San Francisco and later at the Académie Julian in Paris.
