Princesses On The Terrace
Paul Ranson — French, 1861–1909 — Les Nabis / Post-Impressionism
Paul Ranson was a founding member of Les Nabis, the Paris-based group formed in 1888 around Paul Sérusier's example and the lessons of Gauguin's Pont-Aven circle. His Montmartre studio, which the Nabis nicknamed 'The Temple,' served as the group's regular meeting place. Ranson worked across painting, decorative panels, tapestry cartoons, lithography, and theater design, treating the decorative arts as equal in standing to easel painting.
