Apollinari Vasnetsov was a Russian painter, graphic artist, and historian best known for his archaeologically informed reconstructions of medieval Moscow. The younger brother of Viktor Vasnetsov, he was largely self-taught as a painter and developed under the influence of Peredvizhniki realism before joining the Mir Iskusstva and Union of Russian Artists circles.
