Charles Angrand — French, 1854–1926 — Neo-Impressionism
Charles Angrand was a French painter and draughtsman associated with the Neo-Impressionist circle that formed around Georges Seurat and Paul Signac in the 1880s. Trained in Rouen, he settled in Paris in 1882 and exhibited with the Société des Artistes Indépendants from its founding in 1884. His early canvases applied a Divisionist technique to rural Norman subjects—farmyards, harvesters, and quiet village scenes—rendered in measured points of complementary color.
