Paris Place De La Bastille

Eugene Galien Laloue — French, 1854–1941 — French Post-Impressionism / Belle Époque cityscape

Eugène Galien-Laloue is best known for his views of Paris at the turn of the twentieth century, painted almost exclusively in gouache and watercolor on small panels and paper. His subjects are the boulevards, quais, and place settings of the Belle Époque city: horse-drawn omnibuses on wet pavement, flower sellers along the Madeleine, snow on the Grands Boulevards, the Seine under low winter light.
