Pierre Billet — French, 1837–1922 — French Naturalism
Pierre Billet was a French painter associated with the realist and naturalist depiction of rural life in northern France, particularly the coastal villages and farmlands of the Pas-de-Calais. Born in Cantin, he trained in the studio of Jean-François Millet, whose influence remained evident throughout his career. Billet exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from the 1860s onward, earning a third-class medal in 1872 and a second-class medal in 1878.
