Gustave Jean Jacquet — French, 1846–1909 — French Academic
Gustave Jean Jacquet was a French academic painter who studied under William-Adolphe Bouguereau, whose polished technique and idealized subjects clearly informed his own. Working in Paris during the latter half of the nineteenth century, Jacquet built his reputation on portraits of fashionable women and historical genre scenes, often depicting figures in Renaissance or seventeenth-century costume.
