N.C. Wyeth was among the most prolific and influential American illustrators of the early twentieth century, producing more than three thousand paintings and illustrating over a hundred books during his career. A student of Howard Pyle at the Brandywine school in Pennsylvania, he established his reputation with the 1911 Scribner's edition of Treasure Island, followed by illustrated editions of Kidnapped, The Last of the Mohicans, and Robin Hood.
