Frederic George Stephens — British, 1827–1907 — Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood
Frederic George Stephens was one of the seven founding members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848, though he is remembered chiefly as a critic and chronicler of the movement rather than as a painter. He trained at the Royal Academy Schools, where he met Holman Hunt and Millais, and produced a small body of paintings in the early 1850s, including medieval and literary subjects in the meticulous Pre-Raphaelite manner.
