Francesco Albani — Italian, 1578–1660 — Italian Baroque, Bolognese School
Francesco Albani trained in Bologna under Denis Calvaert and later in the Carracci academy, where he formed lasting associations with Guido Reni, Domenichino, and Annibale Carracci. He worked extensively in Rome during the early seventeenth century, contributing to fresco cycles in the Palazzo Mattei and the Palazzo Verospi before returning to Bologna, where he ran a productive studio until his death.
