Julian Onderdonk — American, 1882–1922 — American Impressionism
Julian Onderdonk was a Texas-born painter best known for his luminous depictions of the central Texas landscape, particularly its springtime fields of bluebonnets. He trained in New York under William Merritt Chase and absorbed the plein-air practice and broken-color technique of American Impressionism, which he carried back to San Antonio in 1909.
